Our Story
Bilboaero is a family-owned small business built around a long-standing passion for experimental aviation. As builders and owners ourselves, we understand the joy and challenges of creating an aircraft from the ground up.
That hands-on mindset started early — restoring cars in middle school, from Willys M38A1 Jeeps to Volkswagen Beetles and Buses. Later came high-performance engines, machining, metalworking, fabrication, and eventually the world of experimental aviation.
Over the years, we’ve learned that the best part of homebuilding isn’t just the airplane — it’s the community, the craftsmanship, and the satisfaction of learning new skills. Our goal is to help other builders move forward with confidence and clarity.
Building and Flying Our RV-9A
We built our RV-9A from the ground up and are flying it across the United States, with dreams of reaching Alaska, Puerto Rico, and even Europe someday. Along the way, we love visiting unique airports, friends, and family — celebrating the freedom of general aviation.
As an EAA Technical Counselor, Aitor has helped other homebuilders bring their projects to completion. Sharing what we’ve learned and supporting others is a core part of what we do.
How We Work
At Bilboaero, we do most of our work in-house to ensure consistent, high-quality results. We also support small, USA-based makers and suppliers who share our passion for good craftsmanship.
Whether you're starting from scratch, upgrading an avionics system, or trying to complete a long-term project, we’re here to help. Let’s build something extraordinary together.
