Welcome to Bilboaero! We’re a family-owned small business with a deep passion for experimental aviation. As builders and owners of experimental aircraft ourselves, we understand the joys and challenges that come with creating your own plane.
Our love for aviation started in childhood and has grown into a lifelong dedication to craftsmanship and learning. From restoring cars with my dad in middle school—starting with a Willys M38A1 Jeep and moving on to Volkswagen Beetles and Buses—to building high-performance VW engines with stroker crankshafts and 2+ liters of displacement, I’ve always enjoyed tackling new challenges. More recently, I’ve been working on 90s-era rally car legends and proudly own a rare STI Type RA Impreza.
This passion for learning and applying new skills extends to aviation. With years of hands-on experience in wiring, engine overhauls, machining, casting, and countless other areas of fabrication, we’re committed to constantly improving our work and sharing that expertise to help fellow builders.
We completely built our RV-9A from the ground up and are now on an incredible journey to visit all 48 lower states and Alaska. Our long-term goal? Flying it to Puerto Rico and maybe even Europe. Along the way, we love visiting friends, family, and every unique and interesting place we can discover.
As an EAA Technical Counselor, I’ve had the privilege of helping others bring their aviation dreams to life. Experimental aviation has brought immense joy to our lives, along with a wonderful community of friends who share our passion for flying and craftsmanship.
At Bilboaero, we do most of our work in-house to ensure the highest quality, and we love supporting other small businesses that share our excitement and dedication to offering exceptional, locally made products and services here in the USA.
We’re passionate about home-built aircraft and helping others achieve their dreams. Whether you’re just starting your project or need assistance with specific aspects, we’re here to guide you every step of the way. Let’s build something extraordinary together!
